TenFold announces LoadBalancing feature
Salt Lake City 27 January 2004 TenFold Corporation, provider of the EnterpriseTenFold platform for building and implementing enterprise applications, has launched LoadBalancing, an important feature that enables EnterpriseTenFold to automatically optimize hardware utilization within and across server computers.

"Business managers expect their software applications to provide consistent performance even as the number of simultaneous end-users grows. IT managers struggle to correctly size applications server hardware to handle anticipated loads. It's a tremendously difficult task, so most organisations make informed guesses, purchase hardware much larger than necessary, and constantly monitor performance looking for bottlenecks", stated Sid Bytheway, TenFold's VP of Information Technology. "LoadBalancing is one of many out-of-the-box EnterpriseTenFold features that we rely on to address issues such as these that many of our customers face."

LoadBalancing is an EnterpriseTenFold feature that efficiently distributes applications load within and across applications server computers. With LoadBalancing, a TenFold-powered application automatically checks the load on individual server computers and routes end-users to a server computer that has available capacity. LoadBalancing contains sophisticated, experience-tested algorithms that make real-time assessments of current load and readjust load to exploit available hardware resources to optimize performance.

"We put our applications in production on hardware sufficient for the current load and cost effectively add additional resources as the load grows", added Mr. Bytheway. "LoadBalancing allows us and our customers to cluster small and medium sized machines together to get large-scale machine capacity, without the premium price of the large machine."

"This is a very powerful feature that intelligently solves a problem that most organizations are forced to solve by brute force", stated Jeffrey L. Walker, TenFold's Founder and CTO. "You control hardware cost creep. You get stable operating performance as volume grows and vacillates. LoadBalancing lets a business executive and his application development team focus on applications functionality, knowing that EnterpriseTenFold handles this hardware utilization challenge."

"What if you could build a high quality enterprise application quickly, powerfully, using a universal application that had the speed, quality, and power to load-balance thousands of end-users on multiple, heterogeneous server computers?" continued Mr. Walker. "EnterpriseTenFold delivers that today. Check it out."
