Quadrics Hawk provides support for RedHat Enterprise Linux 4 and Fedora Core 3 and it has been tested on the standard Red Hat Advanced Server and SuSE distributions, it significantly improves the performance of intra-node MPI with single-copy process to process memory copies without the need for shared memory FIFOs.
Quadrics kernel patches are available when user's production use requires added functionalities such as the ability to communicate from pageable virtual memory without locking down memory used in inter-process communication; however the most recent releases of the Quadrics device driver modules provide support for use of the QsNetII (Elan4) hardware with standard, unpatched Linux kernels.
The new Quadrics software release has also been fully tested with the Rocks base and standard kernel and HPC roll. The Rocks Quadrics Roll will be available for download on the Rocks website http://www.rocksclusters.org.
"Building a Quadrics-based high-performance Rocks cluster is now much easier with the availability of the Quadrics Roll for Rocks (V3.3 and V4.0)", said Laurence Liew, CTO of Scalable Systems. "Scalable has enjoyed working closely with Quadrics to develop the Quadrics Roll for the Rocks community, and will continue to bring state-of-the-art Rocks cluster technology such the Rocks web-console and the new Rocks web-services framework to the Rocks community."
