The announcement was made for the 27th TOP500 list of supercomputers which was published at the Dresden ISC2006 Conference. Using the industry-standard LINPACK benchmark, the Tera10 system attained a sustained performance of 42.9 Teraflops, eclipsing the top mark of 20.5 Teraflops for the MareNostrum system in Spain.
"We're very happy to see what the Tera-10 system is capable of and its linpack achievements, but even more important for us is that we ran our application benchmark at more than 10 sustained Teraflops. We have been able to achieve such a performance thanks to Quadrics interconnect's high performance," stated Jean Gonnord, programme director for numerical simulation & computer sciences, CEA, France.
Cristoforo Romanelli, Quadrics' CEO, together with Giovanni Trezza, the new Quadrics Chairman, coming from Finmeccanica, stated: "After a decade of continual success Quadrics again set the benchmark for the highest end of scientific computing. This award is the best gift we could get for our 10th anniversary! We’re proud of the team. We’re pleased to be in a position to announce that Quadrics leadership with QsNetII will continue with our next generation QsNetIII."
Moving forward, Quadrics' mission is to maintain its leadership as the supplier of the highest performance interconnect to the supercomputing community. Quadrics is developing its new generation of high perfomance interconnect - QsNetIII. Quadrics will continue to meet the requirements of the most demanding customers in supercomputing and defining the future of High Performance Computing.
