The OSGi platform defines a standardized, component-oriented framework allowing software components to be remotely installed, started, stopped, updated or removed without system disruption.
"The OSGi Service Platform provides a basis for a new and exciting generation of services for networked devices", stated Jon Bostrom, Chief Java Architect for Nokia Mobile Software, Nokia and an OSGi Consortium Board Director. "OSGi's dynamic behavior is fundamental to true distributed service-oriented architectures, and will allow the Infiniflow ESF to set new standards for flexibility and resilience within enterprise environments.
Paremus has extended this industry standard foundation, developing an advanced agent-based solution that enables Infiniflow to dynamically deploy services and automatically resolve library and runtime dependencies through an extensible XML based framework. This functionality allows Infiniflow to rapidly form, deploy and manage 'swarms' of network accessible services, which in turn provides the enterprise architect with unprecedented flexibility to control very large-scale Grid solutions.
"The OSGi platform provides the ideal development framework for Infiniflow", stated Dr. Richard Nicholson, CTO, Paremus. "The use of OSGi in conjunction with the Jini service-oriented framework is unique to Infinflow, and key to Infiniflow's ability to respond to ever-changing business requirements and adapt to varying resource constraints, while enabling new levels of service delivery for the most demanding of enterprise environments.
The OSGi-enabled version of Infiniflow will be available early 2006.
