| Europe shows recovery in the TOP500 |
|
In the TOP500 list that was released this week in Dresden, Europe shows a recovery in the number of systems in the list: 127 systems or 25%, up from 93 six months ago. In Europe, the country with the most systems in the TOP500 is the United Kingdom: 43 systems. Second is Germany with 25 systems. France is the only country with more than 10 systems: 12 supercomputers. Sweden has 10 systems, The Netherlands 8, Russia, Spain, Italy, and Switzerland each 5, Belgium 4, and Norway 2.

| HP retakes lead on TOP500 list of world's fastest supercomputers |
|
HP ranks as the no. 1 supercomputing provider on the TOP500 Supercomputer list. With 203 entries, representing more than 40 percent of the posted sites, HP has more installations on the TOP500 list than any other vendor.

| ORNL supercomputer rises to no. 2 worldwide - Leadership computing system promises to accelerate scientific discovery |

Oak Ridge National Laboratory's (ORNL's) Cray XT4 supercomputer, known as Jaguar, is now the second fastest system in the world, according to a semiannual list of the world's fastest computers. The new Top500 List was released Wednesday, June 27, at the 2007 International Supercomputing Conference being held in Dresden, Germany.

Cisco continues its leadership as the open system interconnect vendor of choice for the top 50 High Performance Computing (HPC) server clusters based on the latest Top500 list. The Cisco family of HPC products includes high performance InfiniBand switching products and cost-effective feature-rich Ethernet fixed and modular switching chassis. Most notable on this year's Top500 list is the continued adoption of open system interconnect technologies, specifically InfiniBand, as the preferred high throughput, low latency technology of choice.
