Located in booth number B-33, the company will be featuring its Mitrion Development Platform for accelerated applications, the Mitrion Virtual Processor, and the recently released Mitrion-accelerated NCBI BLAST-n bioinformatics application. Leveraging powerful and energy-efficient FPGAs from Xilinx running on the SGI RASC RC100 computation blade, the Mitrion BLAST is able to complete complex BLAST-n queries up to 16 times faster than a standard server based on Intel Itanium 2 processors.

"Mitrionics has achieved significant technological and industry milestones since last year's ISC Conference and we're excited to share our progress with this year's attendees as well as our associates in the industry", stated Anders Dellson, CEO of Mitrionics Inc. "We now have a number of customers, such as U.S. Naval Research Laboratory, National Cancer Institute, and Zuse Institute in Berlin, running real-world supercomputing applications developed and accelerated by Mitrionics. The Mitrion-accelerated BLAST has created very strong customer interest, and we will continue to evolve our technology leadership in FPGA-computing by expanding the Mitrion platform and bringing more Mitrion-accelerated applications to the market."

The core of the Mitrion Platform is the fine-grained, massively parallel Mitrion Virtual Processor. Together with the Mitrion-C parallel programming language, it offers a unique software-centric acceleration platform for FPGA-based computing systems. The Mitrion Virtual Processor has a unique architecture that adapts to each software application it executes in order to maximize performance.
