As in the world list, also in the Europe HP leads the list with 64 entries. IBM has 42. But, especillly of the HP machines a large number are at sites of which no deatils are known. This makes it difficult to verify the corrections of the list in that respect.
The fastest machine in Europe is still the Mare Nostrum in Barcelona Spain. New is the second largest system in Europe: an SGI Altix system at Leibniz Rechenzentrum in Munich. The third system in Europe is the Bull Tera system at CEA in France. In the European TOP10, 6 systems are from IBM, 2 from Bull and one from SGI and Cray.
