Cadcentre to ship PDMS PE-Direct

Cambridge 25 Jan 99 Cadcentre is to launch its PDMS PE-Direct system. The new software provides engineers with a route to import engineering information from Visio Technical into Cadcentre's Plant Design Management System (PDMS). PDMS PE-Direct will be available from Cadcentre in the second quarter of 1999.

PDMS PE-Direct enables process plant items created in the 2D design environment of Visio Technical to be positioned in the 3D PDMS plant model and validated to ensure consistency between the two systems. This is particularly beneficial during the conceptual design phase of the project, when a number of layouts may need to be quickly evaluated in a 3D model for cost and feasibility. In addition, clashes in the design are automatically detected by PDMS.

Visio is a supplier of enterprise-wide business diagramming and technical drawing software, with an installed base of over 2.5 million users worldwide. Founded in September 1990, the Seattle-based company released Visio 1.0 in November 1992 and has since released additional Windows-based graphics applications.

Cadcentre supplies computer-aided design applications for the process industries. Headquartered in Cambridge, England, Cadcentre currently employs 200 staff with additional sales and technical support offices in Manchester (UK), Australia, France, Germany, Hong Kong and Norway, and two offices in the USA.
