SAAB chooses Codine for managing parallel simulation work load

Stockholm 01 Apr 99 Swedish car manufacturer SAAB Automobile AB has inked an agreement with Genias Software for installing the resource management system Codine on 100 of its SUN workstations, with a possible extension next year to 200. The system will be used to manage the large number of STAR-HPC jobs that are needed in the car design process.

Genias will set-up a fully automated environment for managing parallel jobs that can be automatically migrated to other workstations when the ones they are running on are needed for other tasks. When scheduling the jobs, Codine takes not only into account processor speed, but also load and the availability of licenses.

SAAB evaluated several resource management systems before deciding on Codine. Financial details were not revealed.

This is the second order Genias takes in which STAR-CD simulation jobs are managed. The first installation was at Sulzer Innotec in Switzerland. Genias' CODINE not only automatically handles sequential jobs, but also manages distributed and parallel jobs.
