openUTM and openFT from Siemens now also available on Linux

Munich 19 Jul 99 Siemens is now also offering the software products "openUTM" and "openFT" under Linux. OpenUTM is a service-proven universal transaction monitor which is available on various platforms and is used above all in the high-end sector on a large number of networked servers and up to 10000 clients. The file-transfer software openFT - which has been specially optimized to transport files automatically, securely and at low cost over heterogeneous platforms and networks - can also be used on Linux.

openUTM is a product family that provides a framework for implementing distributed applications. The products are used for applications which are essential to a company's or organization's daily business, because openUTM also offers mainframe quality for Windows NT and Unix.

openUTM applications are failsafe. Up-to-dateness, integrity and consistency of data stored in any required database - these are the decisive criteria. openUTM is thus an ideal supplement to database management systems. This combination provides the greatest returns for large development projects and heterogeneous hardware/software environments. Application scalability, implementation on all standard platforms and transparent utilization of various networks and protocols are always guaranteed.

The openFT software, which is already installed on more than 50 000 systems, permits data exchange between PCs, Unix systems and mainframes. It can be used wherever files need to be transferred and managed. The new Linux platform cements openFT's position as the company-wide basis for file transfer .
