Simulation and Visualisation on the Grid - call for papers
Stockholm 18 Aug 99 The Swedish Center for Parallel Computers (PDC) invites you to the annual December conference on parallel and high-performance computing. This year's theme, "Simulation and Visualization on the Grid," marks the importance of simulation, visualization, and the broad array of networked resources available today in high-performance computing. Papers can be submitted until October 1st.
PDC is Sweden's main academic computing center, specializing in scientific simulation and visualization. The center operates a wide array of computational resources, as well as the Cube--a fully immersive visualization environment. This combination opens vast possibilities for applications in science and technology. The national and international invited talks at the 1998 PDC Conference, "High-Performance Computing in Visualization and VR," attracted about 200 participants. Building on that success, this year we are adding presentations of selected papers and virtual reality demonstrations. Authors are invited to submit original papers related to simulation and visualization on the grid, where the grid is seen broadly as any set of computational resources that can be part of networked virtual supercomputing. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to: - computational simulations from any area of science: chemistry, physics, electromagnetics, fluid dynamics, medicine, etc., as well as less traditional fields
- hardware and software for visualization and virtual reality
- collaborative simulation
- distributed virtual reality systems
- - digital libraries
The papers will be reviewed by members of the PDC Science Board, which includes Björn Engquist, Professor of Mathematics, UCLA, and is chaired by Lennart Johnsson, University of Houston. PDC invites twenty-minute presentations of accepted papers. All accepted papers will be published by Springer-Verlag in its "Lecture Notes in Computational Science and Engineering" series. An extended abstract, in English, not exceeding two pages (800-1100 words), should be sent to PDC by October 1. Authors will be notified two weeks later if their papers have been accepted. Abstracts will be submitted electronically according to the directions under "Call for Participation" at www.pdc.kth.se/conference/1999/ . Extended abstracts due: October 1, 1999 (**extended deadline**) Notification of acceptance: October 15, 1999 Camera-ready papers due: November 12, 1999 (**extended deadline**) Conference: December 15-17, 1999 Web address www.pdc.kth.se/conference/1999/ E-mail: conf-1999@pdc.kth.se
