FlightSafety, the world's leading provider of aviation training, was acquired by Warren Buffet's Berkshire Hathaway, Inc. in 1998. The Simulation Systems Division is a leading designer and builder of full-flight aircraft simulators used to train pilots in both commercial and military aviation. The Division has used Concurrent Night Hawk systems in the development of training simulators for numerous aircraft, including the Boeing 737-700, Boeing 777, Boeing 717, Embraer 145, Sikorsky S-76, Learjet 45 and Learjet 60, Hawker 800, Canadair Regional Jet, and Gulfstream V. The newly purchased Night Hawk systems are also designated for use in these and other flight simulator systems.
Concurrent's high-performance Night Hawk real-time computer system offers symmetric multiprocessing, a powerful real-time operating system, and compliance with industry and international standards. It is designed to support up to eight CPUs, allowing near-linear performance increases as processors are added to the system.
"FlightSafety has remained a valued Concurrent customer for many years. By continuing to purchase Concurrent's real-time systems, FlightSafety can use its existing applications, thereby saving time and money," said Dan Dunleavy, President, Real-Time, Concurrent Computer Corporation. He added, " Concurrent is constantly upgrading its products, so that FlightSafety and other long-term customers can benefit from the most cutting-edge technology in conjunction with systems that have proven their reliability for over 30 years. "
"FlightSafety Simulation Systems Division is a global leader in aircraft simulation technology. Pilots must receive rigorous preparation for every conceivable situation since the safety of passengers and crew depends on their reactions. To achieve that objective, we use the highest quality aviation training tools and provide the highest possible level of training," said John Slish, Product Information Manager, Simulation Systems Division, FlightSafety International.
Headquartered at New York's LaGuardia Airport, FlightSafety trains over 55,000 pilots and aviation personnel each year. FlightSafety's Simulation Systems Division, a pioneering developer of new simulators, has received FAA certification for more different types of advanced flight simulators than any other company in the world.
