Concurrent and Nagravision Integrate Video-On-Demand Server and Digital Subscriber Access Technology
Atlanta 13 Oct 99 Concurrent Computer Corporation and Nagravision, the digital pay TV division of the Kudelski Group will be working together to integrate Concurrent's Video-On-Demand (VOD) platform with Nagravision's Conditional Access System (CAS).
Nagravision is a leading supplier of highly secure digital pay-TV technology to video delivery companies worldwide. The Nagravision system is suitable for both consumer pay-TV and business TV, upgradable to allow for the addition of new functions, and scalable from 1 to hundreds of millions of subscribers. Its Conditional Access and Subscriber Management System provides an easy-to-use interface for controlling customer access rights stored in its smartcard inserted in set-top boxes or other devices. For consumer pay-TV operators, Nagravision provides a decoder and hardware tracking system, a customized system for tracking subscriber and product information, a method of monitoring income and generating appropriate statistics, and a multifaceted interface between the pay-TV company and the subscriber. This agreement between Nagravision and Concurrent will allow Nagravision clients to launch VOD and other interactive services. Concurrent's MediaHawk(TM) Video Server delivers true VOD and other interactive services for broadband applications. The MediaHawk is a high-performance, scalable, digital video server that supports from tens to thousands of MPEG1 or MPEG2 digital video streams on ASI, Ethernet, ATM, and cable networks.
