Platform unveils Service Farms for e-Businesses

Sab Jose 25 Oct 99 Platform launched its newest version of SiteAssure Suite, the site management product for e-Businesses. Part of Cisco's recently announced ContentFlow Architecture initiative for ISPs and web hosting organizations, SiteAssure Suite 1.1 enables the creation of 'service farms' to address traffic patterns and service requirements of high-traffic Web environments.

SiteAssure spans multiple operating systems and platforms, as well as industry leading application, database and web server technologies with innovative agent technology, to ensure the systems work together seamlessly. With SiteAssure, an organization's entire pool of resources function as a farm, or single system, to dynamically add specific machines for specific failover and overflow functionality.

Using SiteAssure, machines are dynamically repurposed or standby machines automatically brought online should services such as e-mail, http, ftp, or DNS reach critical thresholds. Standby machines can be made ready, at all times, to take over when systems fail. Best of all, maximum computing power can always be made available to meet customer requirements.

Earlier this month, Platform and Cisco announced their joint work on Cisco Dynamic Feedback Protocol (DFP) which allows server intelligence to be conveyed to the network within the ContentFlow Architecture for efficient management of flows. Acting as a key enabling technology in the ContentFlow Architecture, SiteAssure works with Cisco's industry standard enterprise switch and load balancing infrastructure to deliver next generation Web management capabilities that distribute business-critical transactions according to the dynamic availability and health of site-wide computing resources, including systems, applications, and services.
