Etnus Delivers TotalView Parallel Debugging On Linux

Framingham 21 Oct 99 Etnus, announced support for open source Linux platforms with the next release of its application debugger, TotalView. Linux support in TotalView will be available in January, 2000.

"We are responding to the strong demand from the Linux application development community for a parallel debugger," said Chris Doehlert, president and CEO of Etnus. "TotalView is already the multi-platform debugger of choice in the traditional UNIX market, and will soon prove to be the obvious choice for large-scale application developers in the Linux community."

TotalView is a fast and efficient application debugger supporting the Fortran, C, and C++ languages as well as most parallel computing paradigms. Developers of open source Linux applications will now be able to graphically debug on Linux as easily as on other UNIX platforms. TotalView supports multi-process and multi-threaded applications such as the complex codes used to model nuclear physics and oil reservoir simulation, the sophisticated econometric applications used for predicting stock market trends, and the many high-end applications used in large computing and research laboratories.

The GUI-based, single- and multi-process debugger shortens development time via an easy-to-learn and easy-to-use "select-and-dive" approach. TotalView enables developers to unravel and control multiple threads and processes running on single or multiple processor systems. The debugger automatically acquires related processes and threads and graphically displays data arrays. Users can easily dive on program objects and structures for more detail.
