Within the framework of a joint strategy for the next three years, Siemens and EMC identified market segments for the ongoing global expansion of both companies and thus entered into a strategic partnership for the enterprise storage solutions market. The partnership will primarily focus on the public sector, whole-saling and retailing businesses as well as the growth markets of telecommunications and e-business. Fujitsu Siemens Computers commenced its business activities on October 1, 1999 and will supply an end-to-end range of IT products from notebooks to mainframes.
Fujitsu Siemens Computers offers a comprehensive range of servers - including mainframes as well as UNIX and Windows NT servers - which have been designed for the deployment in connection with EMC's storage solutions. In addition, the number of available servers is continuously being extended. Fujitsu Siemens Computers will also market Celerra Media Servers, Celerra File Servers and associated software solutions of EMC. Fujitsu Siemens Computers is a joint venture of Fujitsu and Siemens with both companies holding a participation of 50% each. The new company resulted from the fusion of Fujitsu Computers (Europe) Ltd. and the business area Computer Systems of the Siemens division Information and Communication Products. Within the next few years, the company aims at becoming the leading provider of IT solutions on the European market.
