Gridware Supercharges the Compaq AlphaServer SC With GRD Policy Management Software

Portland 15 Nov 99 Gridware intends to make available the Gridware load management software CODINE and policy management software GRD (Global Resource Director) on the Compaq (CPQ) AlphaServer SC platform.

Compaq's new AlphaServer SC supercomputers incorporate a high-performance computer interconnect technology and parallel operating environment from Quadrics, Ltd. The AlphaServer SC provides the processing performance and scalability of up to 256 AlphaServer systems configured in multi-tera FLOP MPP clusters.

This enables customers to leverage the Alpha platform as never before to solve the most complex computing problems. Compaq customers can deploy cost-effective, supercomputer-class applications in fields such as energy, defense, science, and manufacturing.

The GRD policy management software from Gridware, a Compaq partner, provides policy management services to the AlphaServer SC system, effectively managing the access to all system resources. GRD provides feature-rich interfaces for supervisory control over the entire cluster resource pool, to maximize productive use of the system.

With the advanced policy management capability provided by GRD, system administrators will regulate routine resource usage while promptly handling high priority work through the GRD resource allocating paradigms, ensuring that system resources are maximally aligned to achieve the organization's goals and objectives.

"With GRD, the enormous capability of an AlphaServer SC system can be totally integrated and accessible throughout the Enterprise network," said Ty Rabe, Director of Compaq's HPC Solutions Marketing Group.

"We are pleased to have a company of Compaq's prestige and size as partners for Gridware's high-performance resource management software for the entire enterprise," said Jack Faraone, CEO of Gridware, Inc.

"The scalability inherent in GRD can seamlessly integrate a world-class supercomputer like the AlphaServer SC with existing networked environments, while simultaneously offering remarkable access and convenience to users."
