"With today's announcement, Visual Numerics has formalized its more than 30 year commitment of providing leading academic institutions with the latest in data analysis technology," said Don Kainer, the company's vice president of marketing & technology. "Our new educational sales program gives administrators and instructors a cost effective way to equip their entire campus or single departments with the tools necessary for teaching, research and data discovery."
The two types of licenses available under this new program are site licenses and department licenses. The site license is designed for those colleges and universities that require campus-wide access to Visual Numerics' software. Site licensing provides unlimited use for the entire campus and is ideal for those institutions that use data analysis software across a network of workstations, personal computers, mainframes and supercomputers.
The department license is for those institutions that feel only certain departments within their campus would benefit from Visual Numerics' technology. Department licensing, like the site license, offers unlimited use of the company's software products on any computing platform, but is limited to one specific department.
Both the site and department licenses include Visual Numerics' Support and Software Update Subscription Service (SUSS). The SUSS program is one of the most comprehensive software maintenance plans in the industry and provides extensive coverage the goes beyond the basic warranty. It includes free product updates as they become available and direct access to Visual Numerics' technical support specialists via telephone, E-mail, fax and the company's Website.
