Compaq first with 5,000 SAP R/3 implementations

Houston, 30 November 98 Compaq Computer Corporation has received confirmation from SAP that it is the first to achieve 5,000 SAP R/3 implementations worldwide. The 5,000th implementation was at Petromont, a $450 million petrochemical company located in Montreal, Canada.

At Petromont's SAP R/3 implementation Compaq's AlphaServer 4100 and ProLiant 6500 hardware will be installed at Windows NT- and UNIX-based operating systems.

SAP worked twith Compaq for over five years. Compaq and SAP made big investments to optimize Compaq services and platforms to run SAP R/3. This strategic alliance includes several initiatives. This year, Compaq launched activeAnswers for SAP R/3, an extranet service documenting practices for planning, deploying and operating SAP R/3 on Compaq products. This year, Compaq won the SAP Award of Excellence and the SAP Award of Achievement.

SAP also collaborated with Compaq, Microsoft and Arthur Andersen to create and promote SAP Accelerated Solutions. This is a programme designed to provide the middle market user with the ability to realize enterprise resource planning software more quickly.
