"Our solutions combine speech technology with dictation and transcription to help health care providers quickly, cost effectively and easily complete and manage the health care documentation required by parent organisations and the government", commented Rob Schwager, President of L&H Dictaphone HSG, who added that these new licensing agreements are evidence not only of the crucial role speech and information management plays in health care, but equally of the continuing need for medical solutions.
L&H's new health care customer contracts point to the surging interest in document creation and management solutions for the health care market. A summary of the recent agreements that were concluded in connection with the Dictaphone Enterprise Express system include the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in Boston, Massachusetts. This oncology clinic selected Enterprise Express because the organisation wanted a comprehensive documentation management system, which is based on an easy-to-use Microsoft Windows-based environment. The electronic signature capability of the Enterprise Express, which helps to speed report approval, was also an important factor for Dana-Farber because the organisation generates numerous diagnosis and referral reports which need to be processed in a limited amount of time.
Second contractor is Indiana Heart Physicians, owner of Physicians Partner Group (PPG) in Indianapolis, Indiana. This is a speciality physician practice management organisation, which is adding approximately one practice every six weeks, thus increasing the amount of doctors needing to dictate reports. L&H Dictaphone Enterprise Express provided Indiana Heart Physicians with a platform large enough to facilitate its current growth and its pressing documentation needs, while being flexible enough to grow along with it in the future.
St. Margaret Mercy Healthcare Centers in Hammond, Indiana, as the third contractor, needed to improve their documentation system and wanted to shorten their medical report turnaround time. St. Margaret Mercy's chose the Enterprise Express product because it is an efficient, stable system that should substantially reduce their system downtime. St. Margaret Mercy feels that by implementing Enterprise Express, the organisation can save time and reduce costs for IT support.
L&H Dictaphone Enterprise Express is a dictation and transcription management software suite built on Microsoft Windows NT and Microsoft SQL Server technologies, allowing voice, text, and data to be efficiently created, managed, and moved anywhere on the health care LAN or WAN network or the Internet.
The Enterprise Express product line consists of the Enterprise Express VoiceSystem, a dictation and transcription software suite with work flow management tools presented in easy-to-use Microsoft Windows-based format; and the Enterprise Express TextSystem, a transcription and document management system for centralised or multi-site environments, providing a variety of productivity and document distribution features. Enterprise Express offers network-based architecture and a flexible voice-input environment, letting organisations choose between traditional telephony-based dictation stations or portable recorders, and also offers PC-based voice recording applications.
An agreement for L&H PowerScribe was signed recently with Wyoming Valley Healthcare Systems in Wilkes-Barr, Pennsylvania. Its Imaging Service Department produces 200.000 radiology reports per year. Wyoming Valley selected PowerScribe to provide the department's referring physicians with quick access to their reports through the use of speech recognition.
L&H PowerScribe is an integrated speech recognition, digital dictation and transcription management system developed specifically to reduce the high cost and report turnaround time which is associated with radiology documentation. PowerScribe enables physicians to dictate clinical reports with completely natural, freeform speech, as if they were using a traditional transcription service. This feature of PowerScribe gives it the advantage of enabling the physician to migrate seamlessly from existing technology to voice recognition at his or her own pace. PowerScribe for Radiology is the only network-based speech recognition system that was designed from the outset to fully support traditional transcription, allowing it to easily integrate into an existing dictation and transcription process.
L&H also has entered into an agreement with BCB Voice Systems Inc. of Ontario, Canada, to license BCB's VoiceFLOW digital recording and voice management software. L&H plans to incorporate the VoiceFLOW software into various L&H health care market solutions which support voice capture and management. VoiceFLOW captures, digitises, compresses, indexes, routes, stores and retrieves voice files, allowing users, in turn, to capture voice, store it as small digital files, and share it over any network without degradation to that network's performance.
"VoiceFLOW is the standard voice capture and management software for thousands of end users at medical installations worldwide", stated Terry Graham, Chairman and CEO of BCB. "By licensing our software to L&H, the largest and most established vendor of voice software in the world, we help ensure that VoiceFLOW continues to expand its leadership position." Also the American Army has recently purchased L&H medical transcription software.
