LION bioscience and Electric Genetics to develop clustering and analysis tool for gene identification

Heidelberg 12 September 2000LION bioscience and Electric Genetics have formed a collaboration to develop a powerful and user-friendly tool for Expressed Sequence Tags (EST) clustering and expression variation analysis. Such a tool is essential for the identification, characterisation and understanding of genes and their tissue specific regulation. In this joint development project, Electric genetics' robust and widely used stackPACK clustering and analysis tool will be incorporated into LION Bioscience's powerful SRS data integration platform. This combination will reduce time-to-delivery for disease gene candidates in an unparalleled way.

StackPACK enables the rapid, accurate clustering, alignment and analysis of high volumes of ESTs and partial length sequences into maximal length transcripts. The only peer-reviewed system of its kind, stackPACK's unique data management and visualisation tools highlight transcript variation and accelerate gene discovery, gene function analysis, expression analysis and drug development for pharmaceutical and biotechnology industry users.
