New Trade Fair to have strong focus on business opportunities in the international telemedicine market

Luxembourg 06 September 2001From 10 to 12 April, 2002, the first edition of a new annual event focusing on telemedicine, telecare, telehealth, and e-health will be staged in Luxembourg. Bringing together exhibitors and visitors from around the world, the Telemedicine and Telecare International Trade Fair will be a unique opportunity for suppliers of products and services related to telemedicine to meet with users and potential future users of such equipment and services.

The Telemedicine and Telecare International Trade Fair will attract decision makers at the level of manufacturers, distributors, hospital managers and buyers, hospital department heads, international telemedicine project co-ordinators, government officials, health authorities, home care service organisations, insurance providers, consulting firms, and more. The event will offer visitors the opportunity to see, evaluate, and buy the products and services on offer by leading and emerging manufacturers and service companies in the fields of medical technology, telecommunication, electronics, and IT.

Major advancements in these four industries over the past years, combined with the need to reorganise and develop new ways of providing health care services more efficiently, have resulted in an increased use of telemedicine and telecare applications over the past decade and have opened up the way for many more new applications and thus business opportunities for decades to come.

Offering an educational and information programme alongside the trade fair, this event is an ideal gathering place to meet, learn, network, and do business. The educational programmes will focus on practical applications and solutions, recent experiences and current projects in the world of telemedicine. These programmes will be presented by participating exhibitors and other industry experts, and also by international institutions who have set up and who are funding specific telemedicine programmes like the European Commission's Information Society Directorate-General and the Telecommunication Development Bureau of the International Telecommunication Union.

Besides the European Commission and the International Telecommunication Union, the Telemedicine and Telecare International Trade Fair is also being supported by a range of other national and international associations, organisations, and institutions. Several of these supporting organisations are also planning to hold their own meeting or to organise a workshop during the Telemedicine and Telecare International Trade Fair, thus guaranteeing additional quality attendance at the event.

The Telemedicine and Telecare International Trade Fair will take place at the Foires Internationales de Luxembourg (FIL). The FIL exhibition and conference facilities are located only minutes away from the Luxembourg airport, city centre and motorway network, providing the event with first class accommodation. For more information about the event, including details of special hotel and travel deals, please contact Frank Lievens, the event's International Co-ordinator, or visit the Web site of the Telemedicine and Telecare International Trade Fair.
