Atlanta Gastroenterology Associates L.L.C. is the oldest and largest medical practice in the North Georgia region dedicated to the evaluation and treatment of both digestive and liver diseases. The practice currently has 19 Board Certified Gastroenterologists with offices in the Metro Atlanta area and from Clayton to Blairsville and as far south as Fayetteville, Georgia. AGA L.L.C. has "state-of-the-art" facilities to perform all GI endoscopic procedures as well as the only dedicated motility centre in a private practice setting.

"We are called on to perform very sophisticated and complex procedures to take care of our patients. That is why we are looking to PracticeOne to make sure both our clinical and administrative processes are as efficient and effective as possible to ensure smooth operations at all 12 of our offices", stated Jere Pittner, practice administrator for AGA. "We chose PracticeOne for its proven track record in automating gastroenterology practices and its ASP approach to the delivery of technology."

According to David Schulman, vice president of Marketing at PracticeOne, clinical advisory committees help drive the development of PracticeOne solutions. "AGA will be a key participant on our advisory committee, helping us refine and enhance our product and services for the GI speciality."

PracticeOne solutions are available on both Application Service Provider (ASP) and traditional client/server platforms. AGA will use PracticeOne's ASP service delivery method, called MyPracticeOne. MyPracticeOne will give AGA access to an entire suite of software applications through a secure, private network, or through a secure Virtual Private Network (VPN) over the Internet. The MyPracticeOne service delivery technology simplifies multi-office physician practice systems via centralised hosting.

MyPracticeOne offers two key elements which help increase administrative and clinical efficiencies and reign in costs: unified access and the ASP delivery method. PracticeOne's suite of applications is available through a single desktop menu, giving users unified access to any and all software functionality. With PracticeOne's ASP model, medical practices can count on predictable monthly costs, reliable data backup, and effortless upgrades.

"For AGA, the ability to access our software from multiple practice sites or anywhere there is Internet capability, from the hospital, home, or any remote location, is a real plus for physicians on the go", added Mr. Schulman.

PracticeOne offers health care management applications in three main areas:

  • Practice management, including patient scheduling, claims processing, and accounts receivable;
  • Clinical support, including electronic medical records, referral management, and lab results reporting; and
  • Process improvement, including automated voice attendant system and voice-to-text technology.

PracticeOne offers medical practices the most flexible implementation options. Users can start out with a client/server system or ASP method and at any time, switch over to the other platform. Or, PracticeOne can deliver a blended model that is customised for a medical practice.

Other PracticeOne key features include:

  • Intuitive, easy to learn approach
  • Microsoft-based environment allows for personal customisation and seamless interfacing with other Windows applications
  • Integrated access to the Internet
  • Superior service from implementation to ongoing support

PracticeOne solutions address core practice management, clinical and process improvement needs, enabling physician practices to better manage patient care and increase productivity.
