A Web-based medical image streaming and distribution solution, iPACS is the centerpiece of the RealTimeImage product line. It enables immediate access to lossless diagnostic quality images and image sequences over a full range of bandwidths, from simple telephone lines to fast LANs. No pre-processing or intermediate storage is required. While compatible with a PACS, iPACS products also provide a stand-alone digital work flow solution for imaging centres without a PACS and an Internet/intranet gateway for an existing PACS.

"RealTimeImage's iPACS gives us a crucial component that completes our best-of-breed digital imaging work flow solution. For large hospitals, it is a significant enhancement to a PACS or digital modality, enabling image access and communications anywhere, anytime", stated George Treiber, director of electronic medical imaging for Diagnostic Imaging.

"The state-of-the-art iPACS viewer provides specialists across an enterprise with efficient access to images from any location within their organisation. iPACS enables every networked personal computer to become a fully functional view station." Mr. Treiber added that for small facilities not yet ready for a PACS, RealTimeImage technology provides tremendous advantages. "It introduces uniquely cost-effective, telemedicine, image distribution, and mini-archive solutions and provides a highly functional, effective transition into the digital world."

After examining a number of similar products, Diagnostic Imaging selected iPACS in part due to its open architecture and ability to integrate with a wide range of complimentary software. The superior functionality, features and unparalleled remote access speed added to its appeal.

"As a large national sales organisation, Diagnostic Imaging is a major force in the medical equipment field. We are honoured to be chosen as their partner", stated Zvi Eintracht, RealTimeImage president and CEO. "Our new relationship with the company will enable RealTimeImage and iPACS products to reach a broad audience as part of a comprehensive and complementary product mix."

Since its introduction last year, iPACS has become the image distribution solution of choice. With 150 installations worldwide, iPACS technology currently is available in a range of products including Streaming Module Interface library (SMI) for embedding into OEM products; iPACS Vue which provides a Web-based viewer with an XML-based API for easy integration into other related hospital information products such as radiology information systems (RIS) and electronic medical records; iPACS Enterprise, which is an Internet gateway and Web distribution solution; and iPACS PRISM, which provides an easy, turn-key DICOM archive solution with comprehensive distribution capabilities to create a simple, affordable digital work flow solution.

Diagnostic Imaging is a distributor of medical diagnostic equipment, imaging supplies, chemicals, and service to more than 50.000 customers in the United States' acute and alternate care markets.
