Misys enhances Radiology Information System and signs strategic alliance with Eclipsys

Boca Raton 19 November 2002Misys Healthcare Systems, specialised in health care information technology, has made available its newly enhanced Radiology Information System (RIS), Misys Radiology. Featuring close integration of TalkStationRadiology voice recognition technology, and Web access through Misys WebView, this enhanced version offers radiology departments the ability to improve turnaround time, gain operational efficiencies, improve information access, and achieve HIPAA compliance. In addition, Eclipsys Corporation has formed a strategic alliance with the Hospital Systems unit of Misys Healthcare Systems. Under the terms of the agreement, Eclipsys will offer the Misys Laboratory information system in conjunction with its top-ranked Sunrise solution set.

Participating as a beta site for the new RIS version, Orlando Regional Healthcare assisted Misys with the testing and development of the enhanced features and functionality of Misys Radiology. "Our beta testing of Misys Radiology was an excellent example of effective collaboration between Misys Healthcare Systems and our site to ensure product quality, suitable functionality and effective implementation processes", stated Bruce Wacker, Radiology System Manager, Orlando Regional Healthcare.

"The new Patient Tracking features provide enhanced data filtering, transcript ion enhancements and improved scheduling capabilities will help us to streamline processes. Several enhancements collectively provide improved navigation and information access efficiencies. And the new HIPAA related transaction logging and data access restrictions will help us to ensure HIPAA compliance in a timely manner."

"Misys Radiology is an integral part of the Misys clinical information product suite", stated Andrew Lawson, Misys Healthcare Systems Chief Operating Officer. "Working with experienced, knowledgeable sites such as Orlando Regional Healthcare ensures that we are providing solid, proven systems that can lower costs and enhance radiologist work flow."

Misys Radiology enhancements include:

  • Voice Integration through TalkStationRadiology combines its advanced speech recognition, digital dictation, and distribution features with Misys Radiology's image management, Internet access, and procedure history to help hospital systems and group practices reduce turn around time and transcription costs. TalkStationRadiology allows radiologists to quickly and easily dictate, edit, code, and sign reports through its multiple voice recognition support, open architecture design, and digital dictation and transcription.
  • Misys WebView remote Web access to patient result data over a corporate intranet. Misys WebView allows radiologists to review related reports, sign or reject reports, edit and tag text within documents, and request LIS data.
  • Exam questionnaires improvements that allow patient screening to be captured pro-actively and reviewed and modified.
  • Scheduling enhancements to improve personnel and facilities utilisation and efficiencies.
  • Enhanced management reports featuring an intuitive, graphical front end.
  • Migration of a substantial number of database dictionaries into an even more intuitive and user-friendly interface.
  • Extensive user-security features that provide security and privacy to patient data and help ensure HIPAA compliance.
