"We sought a handheld-based solution to help us accurately capture services provided by our hospitalists across five states", commented Betty Abbott, Eagle COO. "MDeverywhere's solution has proven to be a great success by allowing our mobile physicians to be paperless and by positively impacting our bottom-line. The exceptional technology and vendor support is helping us to grow our business into additional states."

In response to changes in primary care practice, challenging reimbursement and crowded hospitals, hospitalists are a growing trend in the American medical community. Typically, hospitalists are internists who work exclusively in an inpatient setting. Benefits to patients include better physician access and communication.

"The hospitalist movement presents unique challenges from an administrative perspective", commented David Morris, MDeverywhere national vice president of sales. "While they are integrated into the hospital care community, often their billing and charge capture are not. A handheld charge capture solution is very effective in this environment, because it enables work flow flexibility and billing control to the contract parent organisation virtually in real time."

The number of hospitalists has grown from a few hundred in the mid-1990s to approximately 7000 today. Recent studies project the number will grow to 20.000 by 2010. "MDeverywhere is poised to take advantage of the increase in hospitalists across the country", continued David Morris. "We see the movement as a tremendous growth opportunity. The product has proven to be an ideal solution for hospitalists, freeing them to concentrate on patient care, while ensuring their billing information will be appropriately captured and communicated to the billing office."

Founded in 1998, Eagle Hospital Physicians is an independent, physician led company that focuses on managing hospitalist practices for clients in the southeast. Throughout the five-state area including Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, and Tennessee, that Eagle currently serves, Eagle hospitalists work in a wide-range of hospital sizes and geographic locations. Eagle is able to achieve outstanding results by creating a customised plan that addresses the hospital's specific needs and measuring results against that plan.

MDeverywhere offers superior point-of-care solutions designed to streamline the business of medicine for physicians. The solution components, EveryCharge for charge capture, EveryNote for integrated dictation, EveryOrder for order capture and EveryReference for reference tools, build efficiency and productivity into physicians' work flow, reclaiming dollars previously lost as the result of bulky administrative processes.

Seven published studies at major health care organisations proved an average of more than 300 percent return on investment. MDeverywhere interfaces with major practice management systems and is available on Palm OS- and Pocket PC-based handheld devices or desktop workstations.
