ChartMaxx selected as electronic patient record solution by Children's Hospital of Wisconsin

Cincinnati 15 April 2003Children's Hospital of Wisconsin has selected Medplus' ChartMaxx as its enterprise-wide electronic patient record solution. Children's Hospital of Wisconsin, based in Milwaukee, serves the state of Wisconsin, the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, northern Illinois and other surrounding areas, and is the fourth children's hospital in the United States to select ChartMaxx as its solution for managing computerised patient records across the hospital enterprise.

"While document scanning and medical record completion sound like fairly tame functions, MedPlus' ChartMaxx system will have a major impact on how we conduct our record management", stated Carl G.M. Weigle, M.D., Medical Director, Medical Informatics at Children's Hospital of Wisconsin. "Patient data is captured in ChartMaxx using document scanning, as well as through interfaces to existing hospital systems, creating a patient data repository of scanned images, text, and discrete data."

ChartMaxx is an enterprise-wide electronic patient record solution, enabling organisations to create and manage an electronic repository comprised of clinical, financial and administrative information. Immediate, concurrent access to information makes ChartMaxx a key component in efficient management of patient records in a busy facility like Children's Hospital of Wisconsin.

Children's Hospital of Wisconsin will deploy ChartMaxx in the medical records, registration and emergency departments. The solution will be accessible by all authorised users throughout the facility to complete everyday tasks and automate daily procedures. ChartMaxx's ability to provide customised, robust work flow will play an integral part in improving Children's Hospital of Wisconsin's everyday operations and allow for more time to be spent caring for its young patients.

"ChartMaxx has been chosen as the electronic patient record solution by four childrens' hospitals for many reasons", stated Richard A. Mahoney, President of MedPlus. "The immediate availability of patient information helps in the treatment of these young patients by improving the care provided and helping to ease the concerns of their families. We are pleased that Children's Hospital of Wisconsin has chosen ChartMaxx and we look forward to helping them continue to succeed as a leading children's hospital."
