Misys Laboratory is a comprehensive high-speed laboratory information system that manages specimen data from requisition entry to production of the final cumulative report. Misys Pharmacy is a patient-focused, integrated pharmacy information system that provides reporting of medication use throughout the entire continuum of care. The clinical solutions are capturing and transmitting patient demographical information orders, test and diagnosis results and charges to West Valley Hospital's finance system, thereby increasing the reliability of accurate billing statements.
"Misys implemented the two systems successfully and smoothly within five and half months, meeting the go-live deadline, which coincided with the hospital's opening", stated Lisa Penner, associate director and applications manager, Vanguard Health System. "The Misys team was so reliable, knowledgeable and organised that we couldn't have completed the dual installations under such short time constraints without them. Our clinicians and business office employees are already realizing early health care delivery and patient account service benefits from the enhanced data flow and capture."
West Valley Hospital Medical Center is Arizona Southwest Valley's first hospital and part of the Vanguard Health System, founded in 1997 and owner and operator of 15 acute-care hospitals in Arizona, California, Illinois and Texas. The 74-bed acute care hospital provides general and medical inpatient and outpatient surgical care; women's services; and emergency care to patients in the surrounding communities.
With the current shortage of radiology professionals, reduced reimbursements and cost containment issues in health care, every effort must be made to integrate data and optimize work flow. Misys responds to these market demands by providing RIS-centric work flow with any PACS system on the market without the need for a costly broker. Utilizing RIS intelligence with patient demographics, procedure history, related exam codes, resident work flow knowledge and DICOM services, Misys is the only health care IT company delivering this level of innovative work flow integration and optimization. The results are improved technologist and radiologist work flow with greater value and benefit than typically limited RIS-PACS solutions, which are dependent on costly brokers.
The Misys PACS Integration Module (PIM) integrates the Misys Radiology information system (RIS) with nearly any PACS solution. Misys PIM helps deliver powerful image management services, eliminates the PACS broker, offers DICOM services, and supports IHE (Integrating the Healthcare Enterprise) guidelines. Sutter Health, an integrated delivery network (IDN) in Sacramento, California, is the first beta site to pilot test Misys PIM at Sutter General Hospital, with plans to deploy the module enterprise-wide.
According to Fred Gardner, IT product manager at Sutter Health, the IDN expects Misys PIM to deliver substantial work flow and productivity improvements and cost reductions in RIS-to-PACS integration. "The Misys PIM module not only provides PACS broker functionality, its additional components improve radiology work flow in our affiliated hospitals and clinics", stated Fred Gardner.
"For example, Misys PIM, integrated with Misys Radiology, automates the radiological examination process, tracks patient status during exams, and improves the radiographer's productivity and overall operational efficiency by auto reconciling images with patient medical data." Sutter Health has 15 affiliated hospitals and clinics operating Misys Radiology processing nearly a million radiology examinations annually.
Misys Image Management, powered by eRad-ImageMedical, integrates with the Misys Radiology information system (RIS) to deliver a comprehensive RIS-PACS solution with full desktop integration.
