Since 1998, Hospitals & Health Networks, the journal of the American Hospital Association, has named the 100 Most Wired Hospitals and Health Systems in the United States. Hospitals can also be named Most Improved, Most Wireless and Most Wired - Small and Rural. In addition, hospitals that have unique IT projects in place can compete in the Innovator Award essay contest to be named an Innovator winner or finalist.

The sixth annual survey and benchmarking study highlighting technically savvy hospitals was developed in cooperation with IDX Systems Corporation and the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS).

Hospitals & Health Networks conducts the Most Wired survey annually. IDX System Corporation provides information technology solutions to maximize value in the delivery of health care, improve the quality of patient service, enhance medical outcomes, and reduce the costs of care. The Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society provides leadership for the management of technology, information and change.

User ID codes and passwords were mailed to all hospital CEOs at the first of the year. If there are problems accessing the survey, you can send an e-mail to Most Wired Hospitals and Health Systems with your hospital's name, city and state. The study is accessible at the Hospitals & Health Networks Most Wired Survey Web site.
