The integration of PowerScribe with the VEPRO PACS, MEDIMAGE, provides a complete solution to enhance current work flow patterns cost efficiently and brings together two of the leading technology solutions for Hospital Departments in a single offering. As a result of this integration, doctors can view images in MEDIMAGE and dictate reports immediately. They can then either view the result of the voice recognition on the PACS screen instantly or they can send the report to a secretary for editing.

VEPRO has more than 3600 PACS in operation worldwide. Customers from all medical fields, such as radiology, cardiology, orthopaedics, surgery, ophthalmology, etc, around the globe rely on their digital management system. Irrespective of whether you require a stand-alone, mini or clinic-wide enterprise PACS, VEPRO offers substantially more than just the administration and viewing of images. As a standardised, modularly extendable and open client/server system, a VEPRO PACS not only grows with the customer's requirements, but it also guarantees the necessary investment security of the system.

VEPRO has done away with "insular departmental solutions" and administers all patient information centrally through its electronic medical record (EPR). No matter which medical field or in which modality, manufacturer, image resolution, colour model or file format the documents, graphics, images, films or sounds are rendered, all patient information can be transferred to a VEPRO PACS and can be saved in a uniform DICOM format. The core competence of VEPRO is demonstrated by the entire network integration, i.e. with the existing or future HIS/RIS or speech recognition programme.

Dictaphone's PowerScribe solution is an integrated voice recognition, dictation and medical transcription management system developed specifically to reduce the high cost of reporting. Recent in use analysis of the improved productivity PowerScribe brings to report turnaround times indicates that 94 percent of reports are completed, with corrections, in ten minutes. In practice this means that hospitals can cut down the time doctors spend on reporting and are able to reassure patients faster.

Dan McGraw, Managing Director of Dictaphone International commented: "By bringing together two industry leading products, we are able to offer our customers an integrated solution to departmental work flow. The power of PACS technology integrated with an embedded speech recognition, dictation and transcription solution, will help transform the way departments work." Also Harald Roth, CEO of VEPRO, assured: "The entire VEPRO product range is adapted to the needs of our customers. Through the co-operation between Dictaphones PowerScribe and VEPRO's PACS MEDIMAGE the operational sequences in the hospital will be further improved."

Since 1981, VEPRO AG has been synonymous for intelligent and reliable IT solutions. In the meantime they have established themselves as one of the leading IT solution providers in the medical field. The most important mainstay for the continuous growth of the VEPRO group of companies are more than seventy employees all over the world and more than 120 sales partners, who have specialised in the IT requirements of doctors in hospitals or practices. They are the guarantors for development, sales, installation, training and support of individual, safe and also inexpensive PACS, RIS and CIS solutions.

Dictaphone currently deploys dictation, transcription and report management system solutions in the world's premier health care organisations.
