ACL Laboratories activates Misys Commercial Laboratory to broaden acute care and outreach growth markets

Raleigh 11 May 2004ACL Laboratories is fully operational with Misys Commercial Laboratory, a highly scalable information system designed specifically for high-volume, independent reference laboratories. ACL Laboratories will use the Misys solution to broaden its clinical outreach and acute care business and to support its NIDA drug-testing laboratory at Advocate Health Care, Illinois' largest integrated delivery system, and Aurora Health Care, the largest integrated health care system in Wisconsin.

"We're excited to begin actively using Misys Commercial Laboratory to capitalize on our future business growth. ACL Laboratories performs approximately 13 million laboratory tests annually, and we anticipate 18 percent growth with the potential to add six million tests in the next 18 to 24 months", stated Sandy Butschli, vice president of information services, ACL Laboratories. "As the performance leader in the independent laboratory market, Misys Commercial Laboratory is the complete business solution to support this target growth and provide a proven competitive edge."

Misys Commercial Laboratory will complement Misys Laboratory to provide a combined solution supporting two care settings: acute care and ambulatory/outreach. Misys Laboratory and Misys Clinical Financial applications have been in continuous use at ACL Laboratories for more than a decade.

"Pairing Misys Commercial Laboratory with Misys Laboratory provides an ideal business model that services the unique needs of both care environments", stated Sandy Butschli. "The combined solutions will help us achieve our goal of providing laboratory services to 97 percent of affiliated physicians by 2007."

Furthermore, Sandy Butschli noted Misys Commercial Laboratory's flexible and streamlined work flow and reporting design support both their lab business and operational requirements and client-specific needs. At the same time, the system provides fast turnaround time to process orders and transmit results for morning delivery to clinics, physicians and clients.

"The activation of Misys Commercial Laboratory at ACL Laboratories is a classic example of Misys Healthcare Systems' versatility in matching the right products to the client's laboratory needs, including compliance, as they expand their business goals and requirements", stated Barbara Whitter, product manager, Misys Commercial Laboratory, Misys Healthcare Systems. "We applaud ACL Laboratories' continued investment in our laboratory product suite to provide superior frontline support to their clients and to manage their high volume challenges."
