Texas Health Resources signs multimillion-dollar contract to expand Misys Radiology enterprise-wide

Raleigh 07 June 2004Texas Health Resources (THR) has signed a multimillion-dollar agreement to extend the Misys Radiology information system (RIS) across inpatient and ambulatory settings to streamline access to medical imaging reports and diagnostic data enterprise-wide. THR is one of the largest faith-based, nonprofit health care delivery systems in the United States and serves more than 5,4 million people in north central Texas. The 13-hospital system includes the Harris Methodist, Presbyterian and Arlington Memorial hospitals of North Texas.

Misys Radiology will support THR's objectives to improve patient care and operating efficiency work flow optimization via a shared RIS application. Currently installed in three acute care facilities, Misys Radiology will be deployed to nine additional hospitals and configured to serve 12 hospitals on a single database built on Intersystems' Caché.

THR has been a Misys Radiology customer since 1999. A "single database for single application" approach enables the pursuit of a best practice model to better serve patients and the clinicians who care for them. In addition, the centralized repository radiology results provide information to support clinical outcomes studies.

The enterprise-wide deployment of Misys Radiology will provide scalable technology that is designed to meet each site's unique requirements. The solution will be installed in THR hospitals ranging from 30 to 650 beds. Plans call for combining the newly deployed RIS with speech recognition technology to improve report turnaround time for referring physicians. This patient-focused initiative allows physicians to deliver results to their patients faster and improve patient satisfaction.

"We look forward to continuing our valued relationship with Texas Health Resources to further enhance their radiology operations and quality of patient care", stated Ken Bonner, product line director of radiology systems for Misys Healthcare Systems. "This agreement affirms that clients want technology solutions that deliver value and support unique work processes as well as meet the enterprise mandate for a unified RIS platform."

Misys RIS-PACS is part of Misys Optimum, a unique patient data sharing strategy that connects the hospital to community-based physicians, clinics and home care organisations. Misys RIS-PACS solution suite comprises Misys Radiology, the Misys PACS Integration Module (Misys PIM) and Misys Image Management PACS system, powered by eRad/ImageMedical. These innovative clinical radiology information management systems optimize daily operations and standardize medical imaging and diagnostic data access for radiologists and physicians.

Misys Healthcare Systems, one of the top five health care IT companies in North America, develops and supports reliable, easy-to-use software and services of exceptional quality that enable physicians and caregivers to more easily manage the complexities of health care. With more than 20 years experience in the industry, Misys Healthcare Systems, a division of Misys plc, currently serves more than 92.000 physicians, 1200 hospitals, 600 home care providers and hundreds of commercial laboratories, clinics, managed services and other related organisations.
