Siemens signs exclusive distribution agreement with Platinum Medical for U.S. mobile C-arm market

Hebron 01 July 2004Siemens Medical Solutions has established an exclusive distribution agreement for sales of mobile C-arm fluoroscopy products in the United States with Platinum Medical Inc., a national distribution company specializing in the sales and marketing of surgical imaging equipment and ancillary products.


"Siemens is committed to growing its mobile C-arm business and has made a substantial investment in the development of new mobile C-arm products, including our recent introduction of the ARCADIS family of mobile C-arms", stated Michael Monahan, division manager of the Siemens Medical Solutions Special Systems Division. "This relationship with Platinum Medical provides us with the type of sales organisation we believe is best suited to meet our growth objective in this segment of our business."

Siemens expects the relationship to capitalize on the company's investment in C-arm products, and on Platinum's success in this focused market. Under this agreement, Siemens will provide product, technical service and marketing resources. Platinum will provide the mobile C-arm sales and clinical applications expertise.

Mobile C-arms are mobile fluoroscopic systems that provide surgeons and interventionalists with real-time X-ray visualization of the anatomical area of interest. The use of mobile C-arms has continued to grow and expand in recent years with the growth in minimally invasive surgical techniques, many of which require fluoroscopic guidance.
