HP and Siemens to provide greater accessibility, reliability in medical imaging management

Chicago 29 November 2004HP and Siemens Medical Solutions are making medical imaging management more reliable to a wider audience by combining Siemens' SIENET Cosmos Image Management System with HP services and industry-standard servers. Designed for radiological practices and community hospitals, SIENET Cosmos handles tasks such as examination scheduling, reporting and archiving, image and report distribution, and fast documentation output for medical billing by using a centralized server structure, large-scale automatic data distribution and cost-effective hardware platform.

At the Radiological Society of North America tradeshow, the companies jointly have marketed SIENET Cosmos using HP services and running on industry-standard HP ProLiant servers, the health care market's top-selling server. "HP is collaborating with Siemens to deliver a cost-effective medical imaging solution to any size medical imaging practice", stated Jeffrey D. Miller, worldwide vice president, Healthcare, HP. "Health systems need to respond to the changes in the use of diagnostic images and the growing need to effectively manage those images. The solution offers flexibility in pricing, agile image management and strong performance based on open standards."

The innovative SIENET Cosmos offers an integrated solution of Radiological Information Systems (RIS) and Picture Archiving and Communication Systems (PACS), as well as post-processing, all on one workstation. HP ProLiant servers offer the highest levels of availability, performance and quality, all critical components to improving work flow efficiencies and delivering improved patient care.
