UConn Health Center selects Informatica PowerCenter Advanced Edition

Redwood City 21 March 2006The University of Connecticut Health Center (UCHC), a publicly supported academic health care centre, has selected Informatica PowerCenter Advanced Edition as its enterprise standard for data integration. With Informatica, UCHC will integrate financial and administrative information institution-wide to help drive business and academic performance and regulatory compliance.

"Informatica PowerCenter Advanced Edition will help more than 200 administrative users across our organisation to more closely monitor key performance metrics and make confident strategic decisions", stated Bruce Salisbury, assistant director of data services for the University of Connecticut Health Center. "In our business, it's critical to be able to track data lineage from source to target, to see the transformations and to know who touched the data and why. It's also essential to have robust security and permissioning around the data to comply with HIPAA privacy standards. After an eight-month competitive evaluation, PowerCenter Advanced Edition led the field in these areas, as well as in speed of development and ease of use."

UCHC will use PowerCenter to integrate data from across its operations, including the School of Medicine, School of Dental Medicine, John Dempsey Hospital, the UConn Medical Group and the Academic Research Facility. PowerCenter will consolidate data from numerous patient systems, financial systems, legacy sources, and desktop databases and spreadsheets while providing cross-system metadata management and reporting capabilities for monitoring and analysing data quality, content and usage.

"The University of Connecticut Health Center exemplifies the challenges facing not only health care delivery systems and large educational institutions, but any enterprise with a strong stake in data accuracy and in ensuring regulatory compliance", stated Karen Steele, vice president of corporate marketing at Informatica. "With PowerCenter Advanced Edition, organisations can leverage broad enterprise data integration capabilities within a single product, including rich metadata analysis and reporting on data flows and integration processes, so they are ensured their data is of high quality and their processes are auditable."

PowerCenter Advanced Edition is the market's most robust platform for enterprise data integration, expanding the definition of a data integration platform by incorporating metadata-analysis and data-ready reporting, cost-effective Grid computing and team-based development capabilities into a single offering. With PowerCenter Advanced Edition, companies can realize the benefits of a single platform that addresses the full data integration lifecycle-helping them drive productivity and lower IT maintenance costs across a broad range of complex data integration projects.

The University of Connecticut Health Center includes the Schools of Medicine and Dental Medicine, John Dempsey Hospital, the UConn Medical Group and University Dentists.
