Evanston Northwestern Healthcare selects Informatica PowerCenter Advanced Edition

Redwood City 07 March 2006Evanston Northwestern Healthcare (ENH), an integrated health care system affiliated with Northwestern University, has selected Informatica PowerCenter Advanced Edition to drive integrated information views and comprehensive business and clinical reporting across its entire operations, including three major metropolitan hospitals, 65 medical offices and facilities, and the prestigious ENH Research Institute.

Widely acknowledged as a "benchmark" health care system, ENH has striven to create a largely paperless environment and was recognized recently by President Bush for its electronic medical records programme. ENH plans to implement PowerCenter as the foundation of a major new initiative: an enterprise-wide financial and clinical data warehouse. Integrating medical and business data across the organisation's many departmental systems, PowerCenter will help enable ENH to leverage the totality of its information for increased operational efficiency, improved corporate performance and enhanced patient care.

"PowerCenter will eliminate silos of information, improve our information flow and deliver a single, trustworthy version of the truth across ENH", stated Brian Washa, senior vice president, Evanston Northwestern Healthcare. "We selected PowerCenter Advanced Edition over other alternatives because it combines all of the essential capabilities we need for this large-scale undertaking: performance, scalability, built-in data quality functionality, and advanced metadata visualization and analysis capabilities so we can understand and optimally manage and audit complex information processes."

"Health care providers require holistic views across all relevant data, but they also need to ensure that the data is reliable, valid, and well managed", stated Karen Steele, vice president of corporate marketing at Informatica. "PowerCenter Advanced Edition addresses both sides of this equation in a single platform, leading to enhanced business visibility and decision making, lower costs through new efficiencies, and a strengthened framework for regulatory compliance, all of which contribute ultimately to business health and improved patient satisfaction and care."

PowerCenter Advanced Edition is the market's most robust platform for enterprise data integration, expanding the definition of a data integration platform by incorporating metadata-analysis and data-ready reporting, cost-effective Grid computing and team-based development capabilities into a single offering. With PowerCenter Advanced Edition, companies can realize the benefits of a single platform that addresses the full data integration lifecycle, helping them drive productivity and lower IT maintenance costs across a broad range of complex data integration projects.

Located in Chicago's northern suburbs, Evanston Northwestern Healthcare is an integrated health care system that includes Evanston, Glenbrook and Highland Park Hospitals, ENH Medical Group - a 500 physician multi-speciality group practice, ENH Home Services, ENH Research Institute and ENH Foundation. ENH is recognized as an expert for implementing technology and improving processes to advance the safety and quality of patient care. Hospitals and Health Networks magazine has named ENH one of the "Most Wired" health care organisations in the United States. Evanston Northwestern Healthcare was recently named for the eleventh time as one of the nation's 100 Top Hospitals and 15 Top Major Teaching Hospitals by Solucient, a major source of health care information products.
