Alcatel-Lucent and Sabia Bioingeniería develop joint health care solution

Madrid 28 May 2007Alcatel-Lucent and application partner Sabia-Bioingeniería, headquartered in Zaragoza, Spain, have successfully completed a jointly developed solution to advance care. The new solution combines medical care systems with Alcatel-Lucent's communication systems for use in senior care facilities.

The patient warning solution, offered on both the Alcatel-Lucent OmniPCX Enterprise and OmniPCX Office platforms, is designed for use in senior resorts and hospitals, enabling better communication between patients and care staff via both fixed and mobile phones. Patients, families and care givers benefit from the combination of the warning service plus all other advanced features of the Alcatel-Lucent OmniPCX platforms, while designated facilities differentiate themselves by delivering the maximum care possible for residents. Additionally, the solution addresses compliance issues, with alarm monitoring and reporting capabilities designed to manage and improve quality of care.

"This new solution focuses on the responsiveness of the health care staff and the health and safety of patients", stated Antonio Remartínez, General Manager, Sabia-Bioingeniería. "We constantly strive to modernize the daily communications flow within a senior residence or hospital in which any delay in care giver response time can negatively affect patient care. Our goal is to help health care providers to reduce latency within a system as much as possible, and we believe this new solution has helped to solve this problem", added Antonio Remartínez. "This is critical to the health care field as quality of care and service delivery become business differentiators and help to transform the industry."

Rafael Martínez Sánchez-Bretaño, marketing manager at Alcatel-Lucent in Spain, stated: "Adoption of new technology and advanced communication services continues to be a contributor to the business transformation taking place in health care today, as it helps providers build positive relationships with customers and patients. Our OmniPCX Office and OmniPCX Enterprise communication servers offer the versatility and reliability needed to be the foundation of a newly developed solution which combines outstanding patient care with the business objectives of process improvement, cost control and ultimately, competitive differentiation."
