Middle River Hospice selects CareAnyware to improve operations and address regulatory changes

Research Triangle Park 30 June 2009Middle River Hospice in Winterset, Iowa, is the latest organisation to select CareAnyware's Hospice Care Management Solution. Changes in hospice billing procedures, Conditions of Participation, and the new QAPI requirements drove Middle River Hospice to seek a technology solution that could automate clinical data gathering and improve interdisciplinary team communications. Middle River Hospice ultimately selected CareAnyware because of robust functionality - including comprehensive point-of-care, streamlined field and office work flows, automated level-of-care billing, and hospice-oriented reporting - that is uniquely delivered via a web-based application.

"We are pleased to have selected CareAnyware to help us with the ongoing challenge of meeting the new Conditions of Participation", stated Jean Walker, Patient Care Co-ordinator, Middle River Hospice. "The web-based delivery of their solution means we don't need a data centre, our clinicians are finding the software easy to use, and the training is very well organized. Our CEO has commented that she has been impressed with the implementation."

"We conducted an extensive search, looking at several major hospice software companies and were very pleased that a small rural hospice could obtain a software product as complete as CareAnyware. Unlike larger hospice programmes, our smaller average daily census provides less latitude with overall reimbursement, at the same time that expenditures for medications, equipment, etc., continue to rise. CareAnyware was able to meet our budgetary needs."

"We are pleased to add Middle River Hospice to our growing 'family' of organisations who have selected CareAnyware. Our product was designed for partners large and small, and Middle River Hospice is a perfect example of that", commented Rich Guerin, Founder and CEO of CareAnyware. "Our solution has unique advantages related to staff accessibility, ease-of-use, and lower total cost of ownership that make it the obvious choice of organisations who must balance mission with sound fiscal and operations management."

Middle River Hospice has been caring for terminally ill patients and their families since 1996.
