The United Kingdom Telemedicine Association (UKTA) has just been established. This is a preliminary announcement for those active in Telemedicine and Telecare. A formal launch will take place shortly, until when there will not be an active Web site.

The UKTA will cover the whole spectrum from "blue skies" research to companies delivering services today. A number of multinational companies have expressed support for the UKTA, as have academic bodies.

The UKTA will broadly follow the model of the American Telemedicine Association in facilitating development. Full details of this none profit making organization will follow shortly, but those who may be interested in founder membership, either corporate or individual, should contact Professor Keith Freeman, Chief Operating Officer at keith.freeman@btinternet.com as soon as possible for further information.

Note from the VMW editorial team:
Dr. Keith Freeman, MB - BS - FRCP, is Honoured Professor of Telemedicine at the University of Wales, Swansea, and Chairman of TDS Telemedicine Ltd.
