As a global leader in videoconferencing systems, Tandberg recently announced its latest design in the Vision product family. The Vision 2500 is a richly featured rollabout, which is being issued at an aggressive price. The fully configured system delivers all the features that are required for a total videoconferencing solution. Offering excellent video and audio quality, the Vision 2500 constitutes an ideal communication tool for mid to large meeting rooms and is well suited for a wide range of organizations and applications.
The Vision 2500 provides numerous practical functions making videoconferencing as easy to use as a telephone. The system is able to offer a meeting environment that gives the users the impression of being together in the same room. Its sleek stand allows the Vision 2500 to be swiftly and cost-effectively transformed into a dual monitor system. The participants thus have the opportunity to see the remote site as well as any presentation, document or graphic simultaneously.
Operating at speeds of up to 384 kbps and 30 frames per second, the Vision 2500 delivers clear and crisp images of all conference participants. The high speed processing of video images ensures both a free conversation flow and a smooth motion handling. The video quality of the system is further enhanced by Tandberg's W.A.V.E. or Wide Angle View Camera that captures the widest field of view available for videoconferencing.
Just like all other Tandberg products, the Vision 2500 offers excellent audio quality. The system includes two separate echo cancellers for the automatic adjustment of the audio to meet the needs of varying room sizes and number of participants. Through a software feature, referred to as Intelligent Audio Mixing, sounds from inactive microphones are automatically decreased. In addition to the elimination of distracting background noise, this feature can equally enhance the capabilities of the echo cancellers to ensure clear and crisp audio reception.
The Vision 2500 has been hardware enabled according to the latest standard of the International Telecommunication Union, H.323, which is designed for high performance Internet Protocol based videoconferencing over the Internet and Intranets. Its Ethernet/LAN connectivity interface allows the additional system integration into a Local Area Network. Via the LAN the latest software upgrades may be uploaded whereas remote diagnostics as well as network management facilities will be supported.
Compatible with the most commonly used interactive collaborative software, Microsoft's NetMeeting Versions 2.0 and 2.1 and DataBeam's FarSight, the Vision 2500 lets users share software applications such as text documents, spreadsheets or presentations. The Vision 2500, as all of the other Tandberg products, is Year 2000 compliant and takes full advantage of the complete range of ITU standards to ensure world wide interoperability. In addition, the Vision 2500 is software upgradeable so as to benefit from all innovative technologies and features, thus protecting the customer's investment.
The Vision 2500 is fully supported by Tandberg's Global Presence Program (GPP). The GPP provides a complete service of co-ordinated product sales, installation, maintenance and support programmes to customers who have international or multinational requirements. The GPP coverage is offered in over 80 countries, allowing the company to provide the full range of product implementation. This programme is truly unique in the videoconferencing industry as it allows the customers to benefit from Tandberg's expertise in international distribution.
The Vision 2500 is immediately available. United States list pricing starts at $15,990 for a single monitor system and $16,990 for a dual monitor system.
