VHA unites more than 1600 leading community-owned health care organisations in the States in a nationwide network. To optimally serve its members, the company has closed a four-year deal with PRIMEDIA Workplace Learning in order to supply continuing education and training programs as well as relevant and up-to-date news directly to the participating medical facilities via satellite. This partner has been specialising in the production of flexible, customised distance learning solutions to professionals in a large variety of markets. The health care domain is one of the central areas in their policy. In this regard, VHA and PRIMEDIA share a common mission.

VHA works together with various business partners to deliver an integrated education and training program for its members via platforms ranging from satellite to CD-ROM. Three areas are covered that way: discipline-specific clinical licensure education; Joint Commission- and OSHA-mandated courses and finally organisational development training. Within each health care organisation, the customised curriculum of every employee is submitted to centralised testing and tracking which allows a close follow-up of the individual training courses. VHA has discovered PRIMEDIA Workplace Learning as an organisation able to provide products that meet the education, information and training needs of a global workforce.

PRIMEDIA can dispose of three separate television networks for live and interactive programming: Health and Sciences Television Network (HSTN); Long Term Care Network (LTCN) and Joint Commission Satellite Network (JCSN). VHA's professional health care members will have access to special training courses and monthly teleconferences, especially scheduled to keep them up-to-date on current issues and legislation with regard to their sector. This kind of info-education corresponds to the existing needs and guarantees high-quality and cost-effective training at the same time, according to Dan Nielsen, VHA vice president of education and networking. If you want to learn more about their Education and Training Services initiative, please, check in at the VHA health care network web site.
