Tandberg, a major designer of visual communications systems is partnering with Telus Corporation, one of the largest telecommunications service providers in Canada for both consumers and businesses. Previous satisfying experiences in the areas of distance education and telemedicine have convinced the Telus staff to select Tandberg as their videoconferencing supplier for the future.

Both companies have made a deal for the reselling of the entire line of Tandberg videoconferencing applications. This includes the Vision family of products, consisting of six different types of devices, as well as the more specifically targeted products, such as the Tandberg Educator and Health Care System III, used for projects, relating respectively to tele-education and telemedicine.

The Health Care System (HCS) has been developed in collaboration with medical experts to offer interactive visual communications support in applications, such as remote diagnostics, teleconsultation, and assisted surgery. HCS equally pays great services in Continuing Medical Education (CME) and training initiatives. The device responds to current health care needs with regard to cost-effectiveness and improved patient care.

General practitioners in isolated regions are able to communicate with experts in large cities without having to transport their patients to the urban medical health facility. The videoconferencing solution is far less expensive and more efficient than an enduring patient travel. Features, such as live video, voice and data transfer from within the operating theatre enable local physicians to perform delicate surgical interventions with the guidance of remote specialists.

The Health Care System offers complete compatibility with other kinds of videoconferencing tools, so it can be used to participate in sessions with individual practitioners or groups of medical experts, using different types of communications systems. Together with the other high quality products in the Tandberg assortment, the Health Care System will provide Telus with an excellent solution to support its customers.
