Medis - Medis Medical Imaging Systems
MEDIS Medical Imaging Systems is recognised as a leader in the development, implementation, validation and commercialisation of medical analytical software packages, in particular in cardiovascular imaging. These developments have been carried out in close cooperation with the Laboratory for Clinical and Experimental Image Processing (LKEB), a division of the Department of Radiology, Leiden University Medical Centre (LUMC) in the Netherlands. The LKEB is directed by Prof. Johan H.C. Reiber, Ph.D.

The mission of MEDIS is to provide the clinician with such packages as support tools for his/her daily clinical decision making and for carrying out clinical research studies. In general, these analytical packages allow the quantitation of the medical images in an efficient manner, using automated contour detection techniques (i.e. segmentation) where possible, such that observer variations are minimised, and accurate and reproducible results are obtained. This will lead to further improvements in the cost-effectiveness of the procedures in the health care environment. For example, such analytical tools allow the doctor to optimise the choices of the interventional devices, smaller number of patients are needed in clinical trials, etc.
MEDIS Medical Imaging Systems supports the development of analytical software packages in nearly all imaging modalities, being X-ray imaging, echocardiography, intravascular ultrasound, magnetic resonance imaging, and X-ray computed tomography (CT).
